Nicholas (Nick) Talley

Nicholas (Nick) Talley is a gastroenterologist specialising in neurogastroenterology. He is a Distinguished Laureate Professor and is the current director of the NHMRC Centre of Research Excellence in Transforming Gut Health at the University of Newcastle. He has contributed to over 1000 peer-reviewed papers and authored textbooks, is the previous editor of the Medical Journal of Australia and a previous President of the RACP, currently holds an adjunct position with the University of North Carolina, was previously Chair of Internal Medicine at Mayo Clinic (Florida), and previously held a visiting appointment at Karolinska Institute.  

Nick is a Fellow and longstanding member of GESA and was recipient of the GESA Distinguished Researcher Prize. He was the inaugural chair of the luminal faculty and has previously served on the GESA board of directors. As a leader in medicine, Nick is an advocate for improving patient access to medications and treatment, advancing evidence-based practice in gastroenterology, reducing waste and low value care, and strengthening education and research in Australia.
