Silvano Paternoster
My name is Silvano Paternoster, and I am a passionate international PhD candidate at Curtin University, in Perth, WA. I have completed my Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology, and Master of Science in Industrial Biotechnology in Italy. After spending 10 months in the United States in North Carolina developing stable antibody-expressing mammalian cell lines as part of my graduate studies, I have moved to Australia for my postgraduate studies, where I am currently focussed onto carrying out the in vitro screening, and pre-clinical development of a novel class of incretin-secreting synthetic lipids. My aim is to develop a new class of clinical tools, based on the mimicry of natural lipids, that target the enteroendocrine cell system. A possibly safer approach for the management of chronic metabolic diseases such as Type 2 diabetes, metabolic syndrome or non-alcoholic fatty-liver disease (NAFLD). I have authored 3 peer reviewed papers.
