
Kate Secombe
Kate Secombe is a PhD candidate in the Cancer Treatment Toxicities Group, within the University of Adelaide. She has previously completed an Honours degree in Health Science and undergraduate degree in Biomedical Science. Kate’s current research surrounds the role of the gut microbiome in determining chemotherapy-induced gastrointestinal injury and has recently presented this work at the Multinational Association for Supportive Care in Cancer Annual Meeting. Before beginning her PhD, Kate worked in the Gut Microbiome and Gastrointestinal Pathophysiology Laboratories at the University of Adelaide on industry-funded contract research, based on understanding why new cancer therapies were causing excessive gastrointestinal damage, and developing interventions to prevent this.
