Professor Golo Ahlenstiel

Golo Ahlenstiel, Chair of Medicine at Blacktown Hospital, Western Sydney University, Sydney. After completing his medical and doctoral degrees at the University of Bonn, Germany, Golo Ahlenstiel undertook a research fellowship at the National Institutes of Health (NIH, Bethesda, MD, USA)  to pursue research into the immune-pathogenesis of viral hepatitis. Golo Ahlenstiel moved to Australia in 2009 and became staff specialist in gastroenterology/hepatology at Westmead Hospital and conjoint Associate Professor of Hepatology at Storr Liver Centre in 2014. He currently heads the research unit at Blacktown Clinical School and leads the Liver Immunology group at Storr Liver Centre at The Westmead Institute for Medical Research, University of Sydney.
