Dr Berit Genz

Dr Berit Genz is a Research Officer in the Hepatic Fibrosis Laboratory at QIMR Berghofer. She completed her PhD in 2015 at the Institute for Experimental Surgery, University of Rostock, Germany investigating new approaches to target adenoviral vectors specifically to hepatic stellate cells in different mouse models of liver fibrosis. From 2016 - 2018 Berit was working as a Visiting Academic in the Hepatic Fibrosis Lab at QIMR Berghofer (with Prof. Grant Ramm) and the Macrophage Biology Group at Mater MRI, UQ (with Dr Kate Irvine). Her research interests focus on phenotypic and genotypic changes of hepatic stellate cells during development of liver fibrosis, their cross-talk with macrophages and the role of microRNAs during this process.
