Dr Alice Domenichini

I graduated from the University of Padua in the Northeast of Italy (about 30 km from Venice), where I completed a PhD in Genetics and Molecular Biology of Development.

I moved to Western Australia in 2014. In 2015, I joined the Chronic Liver Disease research group at Curtin University under the supervision of Dr Caryn Elsegood investigating the role of resident and infiltrating immune cells in mediating hepatic injury and activation of progenitor-cell mediated regeneration.

I then collaborated with Prof John Olynyk and A/Prof Debbie Trinder at Harry Perkins Institute of medical Research investigating the iron-mediated liver and heart damage in genetic iron-overload diseases like Hereditary Hemochromatosis before.

In 2017 I transitioned back to Curtin University. With Pancreatic Cancer having affected my family twice, I joined the Metabolic Signalling Group headed by Prof Marco Falasca. With the supervision of Prof Falasca I am investigating metabolic pathways in Pancreatic Cancer in order to identify new therapeutic targets and test novel pharmacological interventions.
