Young GESA is a network to help support and guide gastroenterology trainees and early-career consultants in enhancing their personal and professional lives.
The years as an Advanced Trainee and early consultant life are an exciting phase of any career, but also pose significant personal and professional challenges.
Young GESA helps formalise representation of younger members to the wider association, engage these members in GESA activities and provide services directly relevant to members at early stages in their careers.
This Special Interest Group (SIG) is open to gastroenterologists who are within 8 years of receiving fellowship confirmation as well as gastroenterology trainees. The Young GESA network launched at AGW 2018. Current Committee members can be found here.

In addition GESA offers all Advanced Trainees Full Membership at a discounted rate to help early career Gastroenterologists and Hepatologists access the broad range of GESA member benefits including discounts on NETI courses and AGW registration, to be eligible for travel grant and research awards, access to the Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology as well as peer and professional support.
The RACP offers advanced Training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology that, once complete, allows a Physician to practise as a qualified specialist in Australia or New Zealand.
This program involves 36 months (three years) of full-time-equivalent training under the supervision of a practising Gastroenterologist at an accredited training site.
